A return that’s right the first time
Prepared, reviewed, and filed on time, with the working papers kept so next year starts from something instead of nothing.
Campbell, California
Your tax preparer and tax accountant in one team: individual and small business tax returns, prepared, reviewed and filed by a team with an Enrolled Agent on staff. We work with clients across Campbell, San Jose, the Bay Area and the rest of California, and we handle the bookkeeping behind most of the returns we file, so nothing has to be rebuilt in April.

A tax return is only as good as the records behind it. When the books are current and reconciled, preparing the return is mostly checking and filing. When they aren’t, March turns into rebuilding a whole year from bank statements, email receipts and whatever anyone remembers.
That rebuild is where deductions go missing. The mileage nobody logged, the equipment bought in June, the home office that was never measured. None of it is hard to claim. It just has to have been written down when it happened.
It’s a different job when the people filing your return already keep your books. For the South Bay businesses we do both for, the numbers are known long before the deadline, questions get asked in September instead of April, and the return is a summary of a year we’ve already seen.

An Enrolled Agent is federally licensed to represent you before the IRS. If a notice arrives, you’re not on your own with it.
Quarterly estimates, entity questions, and the decisions that change what you owe, handled during the year, when they can still make a difference.
If your situation isn’t listed, ask. This covers most of what comes through the door.

An Enrolled Agent is a tax practitioner licensed by the federal government through the IRS. Earning the credential means passing an exam that covers individual taxation, business taxation, and representation before the IRS, then keeping up with continuing education every year.
The part that matters to you is representation. An Enrolled Agent has unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS on audits, collections and appeals. An unenrolled preparer can’t do that, and many local preparers don’t hold the credential.

High transaction volume, tip reporting, and sales tax that has to line up with the return.
Job costing, 1099 subcontractors, and depreciation on trucks and equipment.
Pass-through entities, owner distributions, and quarterly estimates that keep pace with the year.
Schedule C, the home office, and the question of whether to elect S-corp.
It depends on the entity, how many schedules are involved, and whether the books behind the return are current. A single-owner Schedule C is not the same job as a multi-shareholder 1120S with fixed assets. We quote after a short call, so the number you’re given is the number you pay.

The things that come up most on a first call.
Earlier is always cheaper, but there’s rarely a point where it’s too late. If the deadline is close we can file an extension, which buys time to file, though not time to pay. If you’re already past a deadline, that’s a fixable problem and a common one.
Yes. Back filing is routine work. We start with the oldest open year and work forward, because each year’s numbers feed the next. It’s more work than a single return, but it stops the problem compounding.
Usually both, and it’s better that way. For most small business owners the two are connected, through pass-through income, owner distributions and the home office, and preparing them together means nothing gets counted twice or missed.
Send it to us. Most notices are routine and resolved with a letter. Because there’s an Enrolled Agent on the team, we can represent you directly with the IRS rather than just explaining what the notice says.
Yes. An extension moves the filing deadline, not the payment deadline, so we’ll usually estimate what’s owed and pay that alongside the extension to stop interest and penalties building.
Both, and the planning is where the money usually is. Quarterly estimates, whether an S-corp election makes sense, how to time equipment purchases: those decisions have to happen during the year. By the time the return is being prepared, most of them are already locked in.
No. The office is in Campbell and we know the South Bay best, but returns are prepared and filed remotely. Most clients send documents securely and never need to come in, though you’re welcome to.
It depends on how much profit the business makes and what a reasonable salary for your role would be. An S corp election can lower self-employment tax, but it adds payroll, a separate return and California’s own S corp tax. We run the numbers with you before you decide.
